ISLAMABAD – May 31, 2025: An important high-level meeting was held at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Headquarters on Saturday, chaired by Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, along with DG Civil Defence. The session was attended by members of the CDA Board, the CEO of NRTC, and other senior officials.

The meeting focused on improving travel facilities for citizens through the feeder electric bus service currently operating across Islamabad. Chairman CDA received a comprehensive briefing on current operations and future plans for service enhancement.

In a significant move to modernize public transport, Chairman Randhawa directed that all electric bus routes, stations, and schedules be integrated with Google Maps. He emphasized the importance of real-time visibility of bus movements with route colors and stop details to help commuters plan their journeys efficiently.

He also instructed that fare payments be made compatible with Mastercard, Visa, and other major cards, and ordered engagement with relevant banks to facilitate this process. To make the service more affordable and attractive, discount packages for regular commuters were discussed, including weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly passes. Special concessions will be introduced for students, senior citizens, and people with disabilities.

During the briefing, it was revealed that the electric bus service has exceeded expectations, with ridership reaching 95,000 passengers and no fare increase since launch. Chairman Randhawa reaffirmed the CDA’s commitment to align the project with international standards of service, technology, and safety.
