Pakistan Navy Honored for Strength, Heroism on Hangor Day

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has praised the Pakistan Navy’s historic and continued role in safeguarding the country’s maritime borders. In a message issued on the occasion of Hangor Day, he said that during the 1971 war, the Navy stood as a solid barrier against the enemy, and even today it serves as an unbreakable shield for Pakistan at sea.

Hangor Day, observed on December 9, commemorates the bravery of the crew of Submarine Hangor, whose heroic action in 1971 remains unforgettable. Field Marshal Asim Munir said the operation is a reminder of Pakistan’s commitment to peace and its determination to defend the homeland with full strength.

Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf also issued a message, stating that the Pakistan Navy remains fully prepared to counter any threat, just as it did in the past. He further announced that eight modern Hangor-class submarines will soon join the naval fleet, enhancing Pakistan’s maritime defense.

To mark the occasion, the Pakistan Navy released a special documentary titled “Hadaf.”
