Islamabad(Staff Reporter)-Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Muhammad Ali Randhawa, recently chaired two crucial meetings focused on transforming Islamabad’s transportation landscape and bolstering the city’s financial stability.

In the first meeting, Randhawa emphasized the importance of shifting commercial vehicles to electric power, citing the need for a greener and more efficient public transportation system in Islamabad ¹. This initiative aims to modernize the city’s transport infrastructure while significantly reducing Pakistan’s carbon footprint. To facilitate this transition, Randhawa directed the exploration of soft loans for commercial transport operators and the introduction of special incentives to encourage electric mobility.

The meeting also highlighted the need for upgraded charging infrastructure, with plans to establish electric vehicle charging stations at petrol pumps and digital parking facilities across the city. Furthermore, the CDA will collaborate with institutions and organizations, including schools and universities, to promote the adoption of electric buses.

Randhawa’s second meeting focused on reviewing the CDA’s financial position and revenue generation. The Finance Wing presented a comprehensive briefing, showcasing the CDA’s progress in pursuing its financial targets. Randhawa stressed the importance of consistent oversight and directed the Finance Wing to track and manage revenue generation efforts.

Key issues discussed included resolving expired lease agreements, addressing electricity supply issues in Park Enclave, and streamlining commercialization cases to enhance revenue collection. The Chairman also emphasized the need to devise plans for timely recovery of outstanding revenues, ensuring development projects remain unaffected.

These meetings demonstrate the CDA’s commitment to sustainable urban development and financial stability, positioning Islamabad as a model city for clean energy transport in Pakistan.
