CDA Launches Environmental Change Fund for Islamabad

“The designated areas for tree planting include new sectors, avenues, and other open spaces,” said Randhawa.

Islamabad: In a landmark move to combat environmental changes, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has established an Environmental Change Fund for Islamabad, following directives from Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

The fund is part of a broader Climate Change Initiative to preserve the federal capital. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi congratulated CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa and his team for pioneering the fund.

Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa announced the launch of a carbon credit program as part of this initiative. He stated that between 2,000 and 10,000 kanals have been allocated for tree planting within the city, with plans to plant 4 to 5 million trees in these areas.

“The designated areas for tree planting include new sectors, avenues, and other open spaces,” said Randhawa. He also approved the establishment of the Margalla Hills Fund, which will allocate 1.5 percent of the revenue from recreational spots in Margalla Hills for their maintenance and beautification.
