CDA Cracks Down on Illegal Constructions

Islamabad-(Staff Reporter)-The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and district administration launched an operation against illegal constructions in Islamabad’s New Mill area, demolishing five shops built on government land ¹. The action was taken under the instructions of Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa, with the support of the district administration and Islamabad Police.

The CDA Finance Department had earlier identified these constructions as acquired land and issued notices to the owners in July 2024. However, despite the notices, construction work continued, leading to the issuance of an injunction by the civil court ¹. The Chairman CDA ordered the demolition of the shops, citing violation of the injunction order.

The operation was implemented under the supervision of Muhammad Imran Magistrate ICT, Department of Finance CDA, and Department of Environment. The CDA engineering wing has been tasked with fencing the retrieved land for protection ¹. Additionally, an application has been filed to register a case against those involved in reconstructing on government land.

This operation is part of the CDA’s ongoing efforts to eliminate illegal constructions and encroachments in Islamabad. Similar operations have been conducted in sectors G-15, F-15, and I-8, I-9, and I-10, with several buildings sealed and notices issued to owners ¹. The CDA aims to protect government land and prevent encroachment.

Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa has emphasized that no lapse will be tolerated in taking government land and action will be taken against corrupt elements ¹. The CDA’s anti-encroachment drive is expected to continue, with a focus on retrieving government land and enforcing building bylaws.
