CDA Chairman Clarifies: No Stadium at F-9 Park, Only Cricket Ground Upgrade

The CDA assured the public that the upgrade involves no concrete structures or heavy development

ISLAMABAD, August 18, 2025 – Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has put to rest speculation regarding the construction of a stadium in F-9 Park, Islamabad, clarifying that the authority is only upgrading the existing cricket ground, not building a new stadium.

In a tweet posted earlier today, the chairman stated:

“At F-9 Park, we’re not building a stadium — we’re upgrading the existing cricket ground. 🏏🌿
No concrete, no heavy construction — just greener turf, world-class pitches, and the stunning Margallas as the backdrop for all to enjoy.”

The clarification comes amid growing concerns from citizens and environmentalists about potential large-scale construction in one of Islamabad’s most iconic green spaces.

The CDA assured the public that the upgrade involves no concrete structures or heavy development, but focuses solely on improving turf quality and pitch standards to promote healthy outdoor activities in a natural setting.

The project aligns with CDA’s broader initiative to enhance recreational facilities while preserving the ecological integrity of public parks.
