CASS-PISA Joint Seminar Charts Cybersecurity Vision for Pakistan 2047
Experts Stress Digital Sovereignty for Pakistan’s Security and Growth
Islamabad (News Desk) – The Centre for Aerospace & Security Studies (CASS), in collaboration with the Pakistan Information Security Association (PISA), hosted a high-level seminar titled “Cyber Security: Pakistan Vision 2047”, bringing together leading national and international experts to deliberate on the future of cybersecurity in Pakistan.
Held at CASS Islamabad, the event featured prominent voices from the defence sector, technology industry, academia, policymaking circles, private enterprises, and civil society. The seminar aimed to outline a long-term, strategic vision for strengthening Pakistan’s cyber defences and securing its digital future by 2047.
Over two in-depth sessions, participants explored the transformative impact of cyber technologies and the escalating complexities of the digital threat landscape. Speakers noted that cyberspace has now firmly emerged as the fifth domain of warfare—alongside land, sea, air, and space—requiring urgent attention to the protection of national institutions, critical infrastructure, and economic systems from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
Opening remarks highlighted the central role of digital sovereignty, infrastructure integrity, and cyber resilience in safeguarding Pakistan’s national security and enabling sustainable economic growth. Experts urged for comprehensive national strategies that leverage cyber technologies to place Pakistan at the forefront of the innovation-driven global economy.
Panel discussions focused on four key themes:
-
Cybersecurity as a pillar of economic resilience and international credibility
-
Integration of emerging technologies and digital governance for national growth
-
Development of indigenous capabilities for defence and development
-
Institutional and policy frameworks for sustainable cyber resilience
In his concluding address, Air Marshal Javaid Ahmed (Retd), President CASS, stressed that cybersecurity must be seen not just as a defensive measure but as a strategic enabler of economic transformation. He called for the creation of a secure, innovation-friendly digital ecosystem supported by strong policy and institutional backing.
The seminar concluded with a strong consensus: coordinated, cross-sectoral efforts are essential to secure Pakistan’s digital space. Collaboration between government, industry, academia, and civil society will be key to building a resilient and sovereign digital Pakistan by 2047.
