Shehbaz Sharif Credits Pakistan Role in Iran-US Engagement
Islamabad: (Web Desk) – A federal cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reviewed the country’s political, economic, and security situation, with special focus on Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement in facilitating Iran–US talks.
The Prime Minister briefed cabinet members on Pakistan’s role in bringing Iranian and American delegations to the table after decades of limited direct engagement. He stated that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts helped enable high-level discussions between the two sides and expressed hope for continued positive momentum and stability in the process.
Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that Pakistan remains committed to promoting peace and stability in the region and will continue efforts to help resolve outstanding issues between the United States and Iran. He noted that, at Pakistan’s request, both delegations participated in structured discussions, which contributed to maintaining a ceasefire environment and reducing tensions.

The Prime Minister acknowledged and appreciated the contributions of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, as well as Field Marshal Asim Munir and their respective teams, praising their round-the-clock efforts in facilitating the dialogue process. He remarked that Pakistan had the rare opportunity to play a meaningful mediating role at a critical global moment when international tensions were high.
Cabinet members collectively welcomed the Prime Minister’s remarks and expressed appreciation for the diplomatic efforts of Pakistan’s leadership. They also passed a unanimous resolution thanking the leadership involved in the peace initiative, recognizing their efforts in supporting dialogue and de-escalation.
The resolution stated appreciation for the coordinated efforts of state institutions and expressed hope that continued engagement would contribute to lasting peace at the global level.
