By-polls: Voting Begins in 6 NA, 7 Punjab Seats

Following the death of Mian Azhar, the seat is being contested by PML-N’s Hafiz Nauman and independent candidate Arslan Ahmed.

Islamabad: By-elections are being held today in six National Assembly (NA) and seven Punjab Assembly (PP) constituencies, with polling scheduled to continue until 5pm. Out of a total 2,792 polling stations, 408 have been declared highly sensitive, while 1,032 are categorized as sensitive.

National Assembly Constituencies

NA-18 Haripur:
A total of nine candidates are contesting. A tough contest is expected between PTI-backed independent candidate Sehrnaz, PML-N’s Babar Nawaz Khan, and PPP’s Iram Fatima.

NA-96 Faisalabad:
The seat fell vacant after the disqualification of Rai Haider Khan. PML-N’s Muhammad Bilal Badar is facing independent candidates Nawab Sher Waseer and Arshad Mahmood.

NA-104 Faisalabad:
Vacated due to the disqualification of Sahibzada Hamid Raza, the seat is witnessing a contest between PML-N’s Daniyal Ahmed and independent candidate Rana Adnan Javed. Daniyal Ahmed is the son of former opposition leader Raja Riaz Ahmed.

NA-129 Lahore:
Following the death of Mian Azhar, the seat is being contested by PML-N’s Hafiz Nauman and independent candidate Arslan Ahmed.

NA-143 Sahiwal:
The seat fell vacant after the disqualification of Rai Hassan Nawaz. PML-N’s Chaudhry Tufail is contesting against independent candidate Col. (R) Zarar Akbar.

NA-185:
This constituency was vacated after the conviction and disqualification of Zartaj Gul Wazir in the May 9 case. Eight candidates are in the race, with PPP’s Dost Muhammad Khan Khosa facing PML-N’s Mehmood Khan Leghari.

Punjab Assembly Constituencies

PP-73 Sargodha:
Vacated due to the disqualification of Ansar Iqbal Haral, this seat is being contested by PML-N’s Sultan Ali Ranjha and four independent candidates, including Haris Nawaz, Haq Nawaz Ranjha, and Mohsin Raza.

PP-87 Mianwali:
The seat became vacant after the disqualification of former opposition leader Ahmed Khan Bhachar. PML-N’s Ali Haider Noor Khan, independent Nawabzada Ayaz Khan, and JUP’s Khalid Masood are in the contest.

PP-98 Faisalabad:
Vacated after the disqualification of Junaid Afzal Sahi, the constituency features 10 candidates, including PML-N’s Azad Ali Tabassum, Muhammad Ajmal Cheema, and Waseem Akram Chatha.

PP-115 Faisalabad:
Following the disqualification of Sheikh Shahid Javed, PML-N’s Mian Tahir Jamil faces independent candidates Muhammad Asghar Malik and Ahmed Tariq Cheema.

PP-116 Faisalabad:
Vacated after the disqualification of Muhammad Ismail Sila in the Rana Sanaullah house attack case, this seat is being contested by PML-N’s Rana Ahmed Shehryar—who is the son-in-law of Rana Sanaullah—and five independent candidates, including Malik Asghar Ali Qaiser.

PP-203 Sahiwal:
The seat became vacant after the disqualification of Rai Murtaza Iqbal. PML-N’s Hanif Jutt faces independent candidate Falak Sher.

PP-269 Muzaffargarh:
Vacated following the resignation of Mian Almdar Abbas Qureshi ahead of a vote recount, this constituency has 17 candidates. A tough contest is expected among PPP’s Almdar Qureshi and independent candidates Iqbal Pitafi and Abdul Hai Dasti.
