Bushra Bibi Confident Imran Khan Will Take Reconciliation Path
Lahore-(Tahir Chuhdary)-Bushra Bibi, the wife of Imran Khan, has reaffirmed that her husband will not pursue revenge once he’s released from jail. This statement comes amid Imran Khan’s ongoing legal battles, including a seven-year sentence for marrying Bushra Bibi during her Iddat period, which is a mandatory waiting period for a woman after divorce or widowhood. However, on July 13, 2024, the court overturned their conviction, paving the way for their potential release.
In a video message addressing PTI workers, Bushra Bibi clarified that the PTI leadership has never encouraged violence and will continue to advocate for peaceful political expression.
“No one can be stopped from a peaceful protest,” Bushra Bibi said, asserting that PTI has always adhered to lawful means of expressing their political views. “We have never taken the law into our own hands, and we will continue to do so.”
Bushra Bibi also addressed concerns over rumours of revenge against political opponents, specifically referring to her husband Imran Khan. She stated that those circulating such messages are spreading lies, stating, “The founders of PTI open the door of forgiveness when they come to power. I want to tell institutions that there will be no revenge.
She went on to emphasise that Imran Khan’s stance is rooted in the teachings of Islam, stating that taking revenge after coming to power would be a grievous mistake and against the will of Allah. “Revenge will never be sought,” she added, noting that Imran Khan’s commitment to forgiveness is central to his political vision.
Bushra Bibi also responded to accusations that PTI has incited violence, particularly the controversial slogan of “al-Jihad al-Jihad” that has been attributed to some of its supporters.
She strongly denied any such directive from the PTI leadership, attributing these slogans to the sentiments of the people, not party instructions.
Referring to the ongoing political turmoil in the country, she remarked that while the country’s rulers are preoccupied with securing their positions, Imran Khan is dedicated to achieving “real freedom” for the people of Pakistan.
