Bumrah’s Exceptional Discipline: A Lesson for Iftikhar and Rizwan

Wasim Akram’s Criticism of Iftikhar Ahmed Justified by Bumrah’s Stellar Performance”

Former Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram recently criticized Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed, particularly scolding Iftikhar for his loose statement before the World Cup. Iftikhar had claimed he would hit six sixes in one over off Jasprit Bumrah, but failed to deliver on his promise.

In contrast, Bumrah had an exceptional tournament, bowling 29.4 overs with 110 dot balls and conceding only 10 fours and 2 sixes. He took 14 wickets and was awarded the Player of the Tournament by the ICC.

Bumrah’s performance was marked by remarkable discipline, with only one wide bowled in the entire tournament, except for the match against the USA. He also took 3 wickets in the match against Pakistan, earning him the Man of the Match award.

Iftikhar’s failure to hit six sixes off Bumrah and his overall poor performance in the tournament highlight the importance of humility and discipline in cricket. Bumrah’s exceptional performance, on the other hand, serves as a testament to his skill and dedication to the sport.”

Starting from the first match, against Ireland, Bumrah bowled 3 overs, took 2 wickets for just 6 runs, and didn’t concede a single boundary.

In the third match, against the USA, Harmeet Singh hit a six off Bumrah’s third over, and Corey Anderson hit a four. Bumrah’s figures in that match were 4 overs, 25 runs.

The match against Canada was washed out due to rain. In the next match against Afghanistan, Bumrah bowled 4 overs, gave away only 7 runs, and took 3 wickets, conceding just one four to Azmatullah.

Against Bangladesh, Bumrah’s figures were 4 overs, 13 runs, and 2 wickets, with only one four hit by Mehidy Hasan.

In the match against Australia, Bumrah conceded 29 runs, the most in the tournament for him. Travis Head hit three fours, and Pat Cummins hit one six. Bumrah also took Head’s wicket.

In the semi-final, Buttler managed to hit only one four off Bumrah, who finished with figures of 2.4 overs, 12 runs, and 2 wickets.

In the final, Bumrah gave 18 runs and took 2 wickets. As everyone remembers, Bumrah conceded only two fours in the final, hit by Markram and de Kock.

In the match against Pakistan, only Babar Azam managed to hit a four off Bumrah before getting out on the next delivery. Iftikhar, who had challenged Bumrah, could only score 1 leg-bye run and got out on the last ball. Bumrah’s figures were 4 overs, 14 runs, and 3 wickets, earning him the Man of the Match award.

Throughout the tournament, Bumrah conceded only 10 fours and 2 sixes. More astonishingly, except for the match against the USA, Bumrah didn’t bowl a single wide or no-ball. This is the same Bumrah whose no-ball had cost India the Champions Trophy, but now, in 29.4 overs, he bowled just one wide.

This remarkable discipline explains why the ICC awarded him the Player of the Tournament, even though he didn’t score a single run.
