Security Forces Conduct Over 75,000 Operations in 2025: ISPR
Rawalpindi-(Mudasssar/Webdesk)- Director General ISPR, while responding to a question during a press conference today, issued a strong warning to hostile forces, stating, “Bring anyone you want — money back if we fail.” The DG ISPR said Pakistan’s armed forces are fully prepared to respond decisively to any threat against national security. He emphasized that the country’s defense capabilities are strong and that any misadventure by enemies would be met with a firm and effective response.
The statement came amid rising regional tensions, reaffirming Pakistan’s resolve to safeguard its sovereignty at all costs. Director General ISPR, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has said that 80 percent of terrorism incidents in Pakistan have occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to what he described as a politically conducive environment being provided to terrorists in the province.
Briefing senior journalists on security forces’ operations in 2025, the DG ISPR said that successful counterterrorism operations were conducted over the past year. He stated that 75,175 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) were carried out, while 5,400 terrorism incidents were recorded, resulting in the martyrdom of 1,235 law enforcement personnel and civilians.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said the state remains fully committed to eliminating terrorism and has taken significant measures in this regard. He emphasized that Pakistan’s stance against terrorism is clear and has been acknowledged by the international community. He added that extremist groups have no connection with Islam.
He further stated that 5,397 counterterrorism operations were conducted this year alone. Addressing the key concern of why terrorism is concentrated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he reiterated that terrorists benefit from a favorable environment in the province.
According to the DG ISPR, last year law enforcement agencies conducted 14,658 operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 58,778 in Balochistan, and 1,739 operations in other parts of the country. He noted that 27 suicide attacks took place last year, with 80 percent occurring in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said terrorism began resurging in 2021 following developments in Afghanistan, including the Doha Agreement. He said Afghan groups had made commitments to prevent terrorism from Afghan soil and ensure women’s education, but those promises were not fulfilled. He added that 2,597 terrorists were killed in 2025.
DG ISPR to Hold Important Press Conference Today
He stated that militant groups, including what he termed Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna-e-Hindustan, are based in Afghanistan, where they are being supported. He recalled heightened tensions on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in October, noting that Pakistan repeatedly urged Afghan authorities to control militant elements. When warnings were ignored, targeted action was taken against hostile posts.
The DG ISPR said clashes occurred on the Pak-Afghan border and during Marka-e-Haq, adding that India was decisively repelled. He stated that terrorist threats were confronted firmly and a clear message was delivered. He warned that if even 5 to 10 percent of the terrorism Pakistan faces were to occur elsewhere, many states would struggle to survive.

Referring to extremist ideology, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said Islam clearly condemns such elements. He emphasized that the war against terrorism is a national struggle involving the entire nation and must be won decisively.
He said all political parties agree on the National Action Plan, stressing that its implementation is essential to eradicate terrorism. He also claimed that advanced weapons worth billions of dollars left behind in Afghanistan have strengthened militant groups, while alleging that terrorism in Pakistan is sponsored by India.
Responding to criticism of counterterrorism operations, he said the state firmly stood against terrorists in 2023 and continues to engage them wherever necessary. He added that some causes are not only necessary but justified to fight for.
Minister Leghari Supports DG ISPR’s Strong National Statement
Commenting on India, the DG ISPR said India intensified terrorism after its failure in Operation Sindoor, accusing New Delhi of targeting civilians, including women and children. He said India has no right to harm Pakistani citizens or infrastructure.
He clarified that Pakistan targets terrorist groups, not Afghan civilians, and said evidence exists showing where militants are being harbored. He added that recent major attacks targeted civilians and soft targets, carried out by militants operating from across the border.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry also stated that militants are using armed quadcopters and drones, sometimes operating from mosques and civilian areas, using women and children as shields. He emphasized that Pakistan Army only targets terrorists and their facilitators, not civilians.
