Bomb disposal squad personnel martyred in Turbat blast

The police have cordoned off the area, and an investigation into the explosion is ongoing.

Turbat: A tragic explosion during a search operation in Turbat has claimed the life of a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) personnel and left two others injured. The incident occurred while the BDS team was conducting a routine operation to locate explosives in the area, according to local police.

The bomb detonated unexpectedly, causing the fatality of one squad member and injuring two others. Emergency services responded swiftly, and the injured personnel were immediately transferred to a nearby medical facility for treatment. The police have cordoned off the area, and an investigation into the explosion is ongoing.

This blast adds to a string of recent violence in Balochistan. Earlier this month, a deadly explosion in Mastung killed five people, including three schoolchildren, and injured several others. The attack targeted a police van near Civil Hospital Chowk, sparking widespread alarm and a strong response from local authorities.

Security forces have vowed to intensify efforts to combat terrorism in the region. In a recent statement, the provincial government of Balochistan reiterated its commitment to eradicating terrorist groups responsible for such attacks. The region has witnessed several bombings in recent years, with some resulting in significant casualties, such as last year’s devastating suicide blast during an Eid procession in Mastung, which claimed the lives of at least 55 people, including a police officer.
