BNP Accuses Government of Abducting Senators and Their Families
Senator Qasim Ranjho and BNP Senator Naseema Ehsan’s Family Members Allegedly Taken
Sajid Tareen Advocate, the acting president of the Balochistan National Party (BNP), has accused “government authorities” of kidnapping Senator Qasim Ranjho, along with his son and driver.
Tareen further stated that contact has been lost with the husband and son of BNP Senator Naseema Ehsan, who are also believed to have been abducted.
In a related incident, legal associations in Balochistan have voiced their opposition to the proposed constitutional amendments, accusing the establishment of orchestrating these changes.
They argue that such abductions of senators and their families would not be happening if the accusations were untrue.
Currently, parliamentary committee meetings are taking place to finalize the 26th constitutional amendment, with the government seeking input from different political parties.
BNP leader Sardar Akhtar Mengal recently resigned from the National Assembly in protest, leaving the party with two senators, including one woman.
Tareen further alleged that these kidnappings aim to coerce BNP senators into supporting the proposed amendments. He mentioned that Senator Ranjho, who has kidney problems, was taken to Al-Shifa Hospital for dialysis before he and his companions were reportedly abducted.
Additionally, he reported that Senator Naseema Ehsan Shah’s son was taken from a checkpoint in Kohsar, while her husband, Syed Ehsan Shah, was abducted from Parliament Lodges the following day.
Tareen accused the government of using such tactics to pressure party senators, pointing out that not only senators but other individuals are becoming unreachable, as their phone numbers are being deactivated, making communication difficult.
