Black Bear Rescued, Poacher Apprehended in Successful Operations
LAHORE: In a series of decisive actions against wildlife crimes, Punjab Wildlife authorities have achieved significant breakthroughs. Wildlife officials in Jhang recovered a male black bear from illegal possession in Shorkot, leading to the arrest of the perpetrator who now faces legal consequences. The bear has been safely transferred to the Wildlife Breeding Center in Jhang, with the accused fined Rs 10,000 by the local court.
Simultaneously, Wildlife officials in Jhelum thwarted an attempt to illegally hunt wild rabbits in Pind Soka. They apprehended a poacher red-handed, seizing a 12-bore gun in the process. The offender was promptly fined Rs 35,000 and charged under the Wildlife Act for his violations.

Director General of Punjab Wildlife, Mudassar Riaz Malik, emphasized the continuation of these operations to eradicate wildlife crimes entirely. He urged the public to support these efforts by refraining from illegal hunting, trading, and possession of protected animals and birds. Strict measures are being enforced against perpetrators involved in such illegal activities to safeguard Punjab’s wildlife.
