BISP Chair Rubina Khalid Visits Victims After Rahim Yar Khan Incident
RAHIM YAR KHAN: (Web Desk) – Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Rubina Khalid visited Sheikh Zayed Hospital on March 17, 2026, to meet women beneficiaries injured in a recent tragic incident. She was accompanied by MPA Sardar Habib-ur-Rehman, hospital officials, and BISP representatives. During her visit, she reviewed the medical condition of the injured and instructed authorities to ensure they receive the best possible treatment and full support.
Speaking to the media, Senator Rubina Khalid confirmed that a detailed inquiry into the incident is in progress and assured that those responsible will face strict legal consequences. She noted that BISP payments are currently disbursed through partner banks, but following the incident, the concerned bank has been issued a notice and penalized for negligence.

Expressing solidarity with the affected families, she announced financial compensation of Rs. 1 million for each deceased beneficiary’s family and Rs. 300,000 for each injured woman. She further assured that all injured individuals will receive free medical care, while educational stipends for their children will continue without interruption.
The Chairperson also revealed that this marks the final phase of payments under the existing system. Following directives from Asif Ali Zardari and Shehbaz Sharif, BISP will transition to a Digital Wallet System from the next quarter to improve transparency, efficiency, and dignity in payment distribution, eliminating reliance on bank retailers.
Later, Senator Rubina Khalid visited the homes of victims in Rahim Yar Khan, offering condolences and prayers for the deceased, including residents of Chak 123, Chak 125, and Chak 114. She reaffirmed that BISP remains committed to supporting the affected families during this difficult time.
