Bilawal called for an end to old-fashioned politics: Bilawal.

Lahore: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has urged supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to cast their votes for the PPP in the upcoming February 8 elections, framing the contest as a battle between ‘the lion and the arrow’.

Addressing a party power show in Lahore, Bilawal highlighted the importance of political engagement over divisive tactics, calling on PTI supporters to reject the politics of abusing rivals and imprisoning them. He expressed empathy for PTI workers facing challenges and attributed the setbacks to Nawaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Bilawal emphasized his respect for political workers, citing his own experiences, and assured PTI supporters that he would put an end to revenge politics. Referring to the arrest of PTI workers allegedly involved in attacking military installations since May 9, 2023, Bilawal pledged to bury such practices.

In a bid to unite political forces, Bilawal called for an end to old-fashioned politics and urged collaboration to guide the country toward a more positive political future. He reminded the audience of his party’s commitment to releasing political prisoners when in office and appealed for support in the upcoming electoral battle.

On Saturday, Hamza Shehbaz Sharif, the Vice President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), said that his party is committed to prioritising Pakistan’s development.

He expressed, “Our commitment is centered on fostering the development of Pakistan. While we could have merely observed the unfolding events, we chose to put our political interests on the line to rescue the country from crisis. We successfully averted a default situation and reinstated the IMF program, safeguarding the economic stability of the nation.”

Hamza further said, “I understand the challenges you face. There’s palpable concern within households about rising gas and electricity bills. The exchange rate has surged to Rs280 from the previous Rs105 during the tenure of the (N) League. Presently, the cost of one unit of electricity stands at Rs60, a significant increase from the Rs7 it was during our time.”
