Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari Criticizes Judiciary for Overstepping Powers
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari criticized the judiciary for “unconstitutionally overstepping its powers.”
Speaking during the National Assembly session, the former foreign minister remarked: “The judiciary has turned our legal system into a global laughingstock.”
He referred to former Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry as a “black snake,” accusing him of undermining the very foundations of the Constitution and democracy.

Bhutto-Zardari emphasized the urgent need for constitutional reforms, recalling past threats by Chaudhry to nullify the 18th Amendment, which could have severely hindered democratic progress. “We are close to forming a constitutional bench that will put the people’s interests first,” he said.

He also called on all political parties, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), to unite in support of the critical amendment introduced by JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman. “Let’s join hands for the sake of the Constitution and democracy,” he urged.
