IHC rejects PTI chief’s plea to stop cipher case trail,

PESHAWAR – Senior leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Asad Qaiser and Ali Muhammad Khan held a meeting with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Thursday.

The PTI leaders met the JUI-F chief and condoled with him on the sad demise of his mother-in-law. They offered prayer for the departed soul.

The PTI leadership also discussed the current political situation in the country with the JUI-F chief.

Sources further claimed that the delegation also lauded the Maulana Fazl’s ‘reconciliation’ narrative among political parties. He stressed the need for ‘unity’ among all stakeholders to pull the country out of crisis.

The JUI-F chief also stressed for ‘politeness’ in political differences among parties.

Meanwhile, the politicians also discussed Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s meeting with former federal minister Muhammad Ali Durrani, which occurred on October 23.

In a meeting that lasted for almost two hours in Islamabad, Maulana Fazl agreed to ‘reconciliation’ narrative, which Ali Durrani presented to major political parties.

Both politicians also agreed that every stakeholder should work together for the development of the country. They also stressed for a strategy to improve the ‘political situation’ of the country, sources added.

Earlier, Muhammad Ali Durrani presented a formula for reconciliation in the country among political parties and institutions.

Exclusively talking to ARY News, Muhammad Ali Durrani said for reconciliation in the country, local body polls should also be held with the general elections.

The former minister was of the view that holding local bodies elections along with the general polls will prevent ‘rigging’.

Addressing the workers’ convention in Multan, Rehman said: “The JUI-F has always struggled for the masses’ rights. The JUI-F’s Million March had proved the party to be one of the country’s biggest political forces.”

“We did not create obstacles for the power for which we were kept out of parliament,” Rehman rued.

He made it clear that his party will stage protests if there is rigging in the upcoming elections. “We are not going to give away our rights if they are snatched,” he added.

Few days back, Rehman said on Saturday that it will be challenging to uplift the country’s economy.

Few weeks back, Fazlur Rehman commended on Tuesday the role of the Islamic scholars in the running government affairs.

The Islamabad High Court dismissed the plea and directed to provide a fair trial to PTI chairman Imran Khan.

Earlier today, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) reserved a verdict on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s plea challenging his indictment in the cipher case.

The IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq reserved the verdict after hearing arguments on PTI chief’s plea against his indictment in the cipher case.

Yesterday, Imran Khan challenged   the special court’s October 23 indictment order in cipher case in IHC.

The former prime minister through his counsel, Salman Safdar, requested the court to declare the special court’s indictment proceedings in the cipher case null and void.

A special court indicted former Prime Minister Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the then foreign minister, in an official secrets acts case on Monday,

The first information report (FIR) was registered on August 15 under the Official Secrets Act. It was registered on the complaint of the Home Secretary.

Former prime minister Imran Khan and former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi were nominated in the report, while names of former principal secretary Azam Khan and former planning minister Asad Umar were also mentioned.

The FIR stated that the former prime minister and foreign minister distorted the facts of the diplomatic cipher. “A conspiracy was launched to misuse the contents of the cipher to fulfill nefarious purposes”, it added. It further stated that former premier and top diplomat endangered the state interests.
