Beauty Standards Around The World

Written by Rahmat Rana

As we all know, beauty is everything in this century and back in history. they drastically effect everyday interaction, the media and the commercial world, They determine what is “beautiful”, from body shape, to facial proportions, to height and weight. The phrase ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder’ is well-known! The majority of people will approach someone based on their beauty or appearance, but most won’t.
Women are particularly in this category because they are under a lot of pressure from society to look presentable, whether in the industry or in their everyday life.
While beauty standards may be good in some ways, their extremeness can lead to negativity, which is currently happening. Everyone is striving to obtain fair injections or treatments to appear beautiful in society. It’s not their fault, they were raised in a mindset where only fair (white) colors were considered beautiful (attractive).Or they’ve been pressured by their society to do this thing. It mostly happens in Pakistan. Let me discuss these few countries where beauty standards are set or high.
(Pakistan, America and South Korea)

Pakistan
A country that is both conservative and has a high standard of beauty, essentially in a negative or incorrect manner. When discussing society, people are forced, but for what purpose? Marriage in Pakistan is not easy for both men and women. The person must be fair in color. It is not easy for dark skin individuals to get married because society will criticize them or the person they are marrying. Their mindsets are totally wrong, and some go into depression because of this. Media is also causing this. People feel insecure about themselves.
Feminine beauty is defined as having fair skin, almond-shaped eyes, long hair, and a petite figure.
People with these are regarded as beautiful. In the media industry, we can see that only fair-skinned people are actors/actresses. I’ve never seen anyone with dark skin. This is how media influences us. We only want to see people who are fair-skinned or, on the other hand, we criticize them.

America
It is a country where beauty Standards are high and change time to time, now people are getting self tanning injections to look cool or more pretty and to set standards so the people around the world follow their path by changing the real color of their skin. They are not aware that this thing can also cause harm to their skin. The use of heavy injections or treatments can cause damage to your skin both now and in the future, as everything has its own side effects.
Being light-skinned, blonde and blue-eyed is the benchmark of beauty, of what is most desirable The standards in America change from time to time, things become trendy, and people around the world do it as well. If it’s in makeup or something else, if we talk about makeup it gives you a beauty but only for a short time or temporary, it enhances your beauty and makes your features more attractive. It’s important to remember that each person is beautiful in their own way. They should normalize this. There was a time when dark skin people weren’t considered beautiful but now they are, everything changes time to time, so we should value every skin color we shouldn’t talk or make friends on the basis of their skin color or body type.

South Korea
South Korea is a country that has actual beauty standards, and individuals from all over the world come here for whitening injections or plastic surgery. Plastic surgery is okay at some point if people have some kind of unique feature which doesn’t match with the rest of your face or skin so they can get them But changing the entire structure or features of your skin is not good, if you are perfectly fine. Beauty standards in South Korea are often influenced by K-pop culture, which promotes a youthful and flawless appearance characterized by fair skin, large eyes, a slim figure, and a V-shaped jawline. Features such as double eyelids and a small, slim nose are also highly valued. Most of the people don’t understand what is the actual reason that Korean people skin looks good the reason behind this is their genetics and also they follow Korean Skin Care daily, The products they use daily are designed to nourish and make their skin glow and look fresh. Double eyelid surgery and rhinoplasty are commonly performed cosmetic surgeries there.

“Normalizing all skin colors is essential for promoting inclusivity and celebrating diversity. Embracing the natural beauty of various skin tones contributes to a more inclusive and accepting society. By challenging the notion that certain skin colors are superior to others, we can help individuals feel confident and proud of their unique appearance. We shouldn’t let the media take over our minds about whether this thing is right or wrong. As things become trendy, it’s not possible for us to keep up with everything happening in the world. Think in a positive manner and make your own decisions about what is right or wrong for you. Do not let others make us feel down or low due to your features. Embrace yourself and love yourself as you are”
