Barrister Gohar Questions PPP’s Presidential Candidate
Barrister Gohar Questions Democratic Principles in National Assembly Speech
Islamabad: During his address at the National Assembly session, Barrister Gohar raised pertinent questions about the democratic principles within the People’s Party of Pakistan (PPP), particularly regarding the leadership qualifications beyond Asif Ali Zardari.
Expressing concern, Barrister Gohar pondered whether there are no other individuals within the PPP deemed fit for presidency besides Asif Ali Zardari. He emphasized that democracy should not be limited to specific individuals and that the public should not have expectations solely from them.
Drawing attention to the absence of any descendants of Imran Khan present during the session, Barrister Gohar highlighted what he perceived as a deviation from principles even by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He noted the MQM’s participation in political maneuvering concerning principles, citing instances where the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) laws were not amended to exempt cases worth Rs. 50 billion during the PTI’s tenure.
