Barrister Gohar Criticizes Delay in Chief Election Commissioner Appointment

Islamabad– Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar has criticized the government for failing to finalize the names for the new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and Election Commission members.

Speaking to the media outside the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Barrister Gohar stated that the prime minister is constitutionally required to consult the opposition leader and propose three names for the position. However, he claimed that this process has not been followed.

He emphasized that, as per the Constitution of Pakistan, these vacancies must be filled within 45 days. He further stated that once the parliamentary committee is formed, PTI will submit its nominees for the Chief Election Commissioner position.

Barrister Gohar clarified that no final name has been decided yet, but discussions are ongoing. He urged the government to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities and ensure that the appointments are made without unnecessary delays.
