ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation in Bannu, eliminating two militants, including a key commander linked to Fitnat-ul-Kharij, according to the military’s media wing.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the operation was launched after credible intelligence about the presence of militants in the area. During the intense exchange of fire, both suspects were killed. Security personnel also recovered a suicide vest, along with weapons and ammunition from the site.
Officials identified one of the slain militants as Waheedullah, also known as Mukhtiar, a highly wanted ring leader. He had allegedly been involved in multiple acts of terrorism and was on the most-wanted list of security agencies.
According to ISPR, Waheedullah played a major role in attacks that led to the deaths of security personnel and civilians. He was also described as the main facilitator behind the suicide bombing in Bannu on February 21, 2026, in which Lieutenant Colonel Gul Faraz was martyred.
