Babar Azam Retained in Peshawar Zalmi as PSL Franchises Finalize Lists
PSL 11 Retentions: Babar Azam Kept Saim Ayub Released
Lahore: (Web Desk) – Peshawar Zalmi have decided to retain captain Babar Azam for the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League, as franchises finalize their retained players ahead of the PSL auction, on Tuesday. According to sources, Zalmi released opener Saim Ayub despite both players being part of the Platinum category, as PSL rules allow only one retention per category, making Ayub available for the auction.
Lahore Qalandars placed 13 players across different categories, including Shaheen Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, and Haris Rauf in Platinum, while Abdullah Shafique featured in Diamond. From the list, Lahore retained Shaheen Afridi in Platinum, Abdullah Shafique in Diamond, Sikandar Raza in Gold, and Mohammad Naeem in Silver, opting not to retain any Emerging category player.

Quetta Gladiators listed 14 players, with Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Amir, and Faheem Ashraf in Platinum. The franchise retained Abrar Ahmed in Platinum, Usman Tariq in Diamond, Hassan Nawaz in Gold, and Shamyl Hussain in the Emerging category, while releasing their Silver category player.
Karachi Kings confirmed the retention of Hasan Ali, Khushdil Shah, Abbas Afridi, and Saad Baig, while releasing several prominent names including David Warner, James Vince, Shan Masood, and Aamer Jamal. Islamabad United also finalized their retentions, keeping captain Shadab Khan in Platinum, Salman Irshad in Gold, and Andries Gous in Silver. All released players will now be part of the PSL 11 auction pool, with the final list of retained players expected later today.
