Babar also commented on the inclusion of Hasan Ali as a backup, stating that both selectors and management were clear on his role.

Lahore: Babar Azam, the captain of the Pakistan cricket team, addressed the media in Lahore, emphasizing that decisions regarding team selection were made collectively by a panel of seven selectors, not on an individual basis.

During the press conference, Babar stated that the team’s best interests always took precedence in decision-making. He clarified that the issue of the top-order, involving himself, Rizwan, Saad, and Fakhar, was not a personal matter but a matter of team preference.

Highlighting the experience of the selectors, especially chief selector, Graeme Kirsten, Babar mentioned their keen interest in team matters. He stressed the importance of adhering to a team plan, emphasizing the need to adapt strategies according to match conditions, similar to the approach adopted by India’s Virat Kohli.

Regarding upcoming matches against Ireland and England, Babar revealed that the team would strategize based on conditions in New York. He reiterated the team’s commitment to fielding the best combination in all matches, not just against India.

Babar also commented on the inclusion of Hasan Ali as a backup, stating that both selectors and management were clear on his role. He praised Hasan’s experience as a bowler and highlighted the need for his presence in the squad.
