Government Tackles Earthquake Aftermath, Prioritizes Transparency,Mazhar Saeed

Muzaffarabad-(Special Correspondent)-Azad Kashmir’s government has made significant strides in providing affordable essential services, such as cheap electricity and flour, to its citizens, a feat unmatched in other regions. The government is actively working to alleviate the impact of the devastating October 8, 2005 earthquake through various initiatives.

In a press conference held at the PID Complex in Muzaffarabad, Elementary and Secondary Education Minister Dewan Ali Khan Chagatai and Information Minister Pir Muhammad Mazhar Saeed Shah shared the government’s progress. Minister Chagatai highlighted the approval of the education policy, a milestone achieved after the 18th amendment, making Azad Kashmir the sole region with a formulated education policy, highly praised by UNICEF.

The government has established merit-based recruitment and is allocating quotas for special persons. The ISTP project has successfully reintegrated over 200,000 out-of-school children into primary schools. Reconstruction efforts are ongoing, with discussions underway to address incomplete projects.

Information Minister Shah emphasized the government’s commitment to national interest, transparency, and negotiation. He acknowledged the acceptance of major demands, including affordable flour and electricity, and the Prime Minister’s efforts in raising concerns at relevant forums.

The government aims to bridge the communication gap through phased press conferences, welcoming positive criticism. With a focus on democratic thinking, they prioritize negotiation to resolve issues within Azad Kashmir’s constitutional framework .

To address education and health concerns, the government has allocated 7.5 crores. Media plays a vital role in connecting the people and government, facilitating better interaction. The current welfare projects are expected to transform the region’s destiny.
