Azad Kashmir Faces Communication Outages and Flood Risks

Heavy rains have relentlessly battered Azad Kashmir since Tuesday night, impacting Neelum Valley, Lipa Valley, and Jhelum Valley, leading to widespread disruptions.

Many communication routes have been blocked, and electricity and phone services are significantly impacted in several regions, according to local officials.

The increased rainfall has intensified the flow in rivers and streams, heightening concerns about potential flooding. Other districts, including Bagh, Poonch, and Haveli Sudhnoti, are also experiencing similar disruptions due to the heavy rain.

The Meteorological Department predicts that intermittent rains will continue across the area until August 31. Authorities are advising travelers and tourists to avoid unnecessary trips to hilly regions due to the increased risk of landslides and road closures.

In Abbottabad, where rain has persisted for three days in Galyat, Haveliyan, and neighboring areas, the weather has become more pleasant, but there remains a risk of flooding in rivers and canals.
