Authorities in Sindh prolong Section 144 for another month.
Sindh extends public gathering ban for one month to maintain law and order across the province.
Sindh – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – Sindh government on Tuesday prolonged the application of Section 144 across the province for another month, according to a statement from the Sindh Home Department.
Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code authorizes district administrations to prohibit an assembly of four or more people in a given place for a specified time.
On October 12, the department enforced Section 144 across the province for one month in order to maintain law and order in the “public and peace” interest.
According to the notification made available to Dawn, the prohibition on all public gatherings and demonstrations has been extended for another month, beginning November 12 (Wednesday).
“In continuation to this department’s notification of even number dated [October 12], the ban imposed under Section 144 (6) CrPC, 1898 … is hereby extended for a period of one month with effect from [November 12], 2025,” the notification read.
The ban was initially imposed after the religiopolitical party Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) began marching towards Islamabad to express ‘solidarity with Palestinians’, after clashing with the police in Lahore in October.
On October 23, the federal government approved a ban on the TLP under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) following the violent protests.
