Australia Women Win ODI series with record-breaking win over India

NEW DELHI: Australia Women sealed their ODI series against India with a historic victory, defeating the hosts by 43 runs in the third and final match played in Delhi on Saturday.

The clash turned into a run-fest, producing a staggering 781 runs, the highest aggregate in the history of women’s one-day internationals.

Batting first, Australia piled up a mammoth 412 before being bowled out in the 48th over.

Beth Mooney was the star of the innings with a scintillating 138, anchoring the Australian total.

Georgia Voll contributed a fluent 81, while Ellyse Perry added 68.

Ashleigh Gardner (39), captain Alyssa Healy (30), and Georgia Wareham (16) also chipped in, with Tahlia McGrath (14), Alana King (12), and Grace Harris (1) playing cameos.

For India, Arundhati Reddy led the bowling effort with three wickets, while Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh claimed two apiece.

Sneh Rana and Kranti Gaud took one wicket each, but none could contain the Australian onslaught.

In reply, India fought valiantly but eventually fell short, bowled out for 369 in the 47th over. Smriti Mandhana led the charge with a superb 125, supported by Deepti Sharma’s 72 and captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s 52.

Sneh Rana struck 35, while Radha Yadav (18), Harleen Deol (11), Pratika Rawal (10), and Arundhati Reddy (10) made brief contributions. Richa Ghosh managed 6 and Renuka Singh 2, leaving Kranti Gaud unbeaten on 8.

Australia’s bowlers held their nerve despite the Indian resistance.

Kim Garth took three wickets, while Megan Schutt picked up two. Georgia Wareham, Tahlia McGrath, Grace Harris, and Ashleigh Gardner claimed one wicket each.
