Australia eliminated from ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Super Eight

Islamabad (Web Desk) — Australia cricket team have been officially eliminated from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Super Eight stage after back-to-back defeats against Sri Lanka cricket team and Zimbabwe cricket team.

The 2021 champions’ qualification hopes were hinging on Zimbabwe losing their remaining group matches. However, rain played spoilsport in the crucial fixture between Ireland cricket team and Zimbabwe at Pallekele, forcing the match to be abandoned and awarding one point to each side.

That single point pushed Zimbabwe to five points in the standings, mathematically securing their spot in the Super Eight phase. As a result, both Australia and Ireland were knocked out of the tournament.
