Australia Chases Down Record 352 Runs to Defeat England in Champions Trophy Match
LAHORE: In a thrilling Champions Trophy Group B encounter, Australia successfully chased down a record target of 352 runs set by England, winning by 4 wickets.
The match, held at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, saw Australia win the toss and opt to bowl first.
England’s Dawid Malan played a memorable knock of 165 runs, with Joe Root contributing 68 and Jos Buttler adding 23 runs. Australia’s bowlers, including Dwarsois (3 wickets), Zampa (2 wickets), and Labuschagne (2 wickets), restricted England to 351 runs in 50 overs, losing 8 wickets.
In response, Australia’s batters went after the target aggressively, and thanks to a brilliant unbeaten century from Jos English (120*), Australia reached the target in the 47th over. Alex Carey (69), Mitchell Marsh (63), Marnus Labuschagne (47), and Glenn Maxwell (32) provided solid support.
