Australia Announce Squad for Boxing Day Ashes Test

Cricket Australia has confirmed that the off-spinner will require surgery, ruling him out of the upcoming match.

SYDNEY: Australia have announced their squad for the Boxing Day Test of the Ashes series, with two key players set to miss the fourth match. Captain Pat Cummins has been rested as part of workload management, while senior spinner Nathan Lyon has been ruled out due to injury.

Nathan Lyon sustained the injury on the final day of the third Test while attempting to save a boundary. Cricket Australia has confirmed that the off-spinner will require surgery, ruling him out of the upcoming match.

In response, off-spinner Todd Murphy and fast bowler Jhye Richardson have been added to the squad.

The Australian squad for the Boxing Day Test includes Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Brendan Doggett, Cameron Green, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Michael Neser, Mitchell Starc, Jack Weddle (Wildermuth if intended), and Beau Webster.

Separately, the Afghanistan Premier League has also been announced, with five franchises set to take part in its inaugural season.
