Convicted Person Cannot Recognize Government’s Achievements: Attaullah Tarar
Tarar expressed optimism about Pakistan’s future, emphasizing that the nation’s integrity and development are paramount.
Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage, and Culture, Attaullah Tarar, addressed a press conference on Monday, asserting that convicted individuals in prison cannot acknowledge the current government’s achievements in diplomacy and development initiatives.
Tarar emphasized that attempts to compare the current situation with that of 1971 are bound to fail, expressing confidence in Pakistan’s continued progress and prosperity. He highlighted the government’s numerous milestones on the diplomatic front, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s telephonic conversations with the Prime Ministers of Norway and Ireland, who condemned the ongoing atrocities in Gaza and Rafah and called for an immediate ceasefire.
The minister lauded Pakistan’s consistent advocacy for Palestinian rights, citing PM Sharif’s strong stance during his address at the UN General Assembly and the World Economic Forum meeting in Riyadh. Tarar underscored Pakistan’s desire for peace in Palestine and the importance of international solidarity.
He also detailed the government’s efforts to promote trade and investment, noting the establishment of a one-window operation under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and the setup of desks for global investors from various countries. Tarar mentioned significant investment negotiations with Saudi Arabia and the UAE’s allocation of $10 billion for Pakistan.
On the economic front, Tarar highlighted the reduction in the current account deficit, increased IT exports, and rising foreign exchange reserves, asserting that international financial institutions recognize Pakistan’s economic stabilization and revival.
Criticizing the previous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership, Tarar accused them of damaging Pakistan’s relations with friendly countries and prioritizing personal gains over national interests. He condemned their negative propaganda and attempts to compare the country’s current situation to past crises.
Tarar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to Pakistan’s integrity and progress, dismissing attempts to undermine national interests. He also addressed questions on various issues, including the 190 million pounds case involving Malik Riaz, the International Court of Justice’s decision on Palestine, proposed defamation laws, and the provision of relief in the upcoming fiscal budget.
In conclusion, Tarar expressed optimism about Pakistan’s future, emphasizing that the nation’s integrity and development are paramount.
