Federal Minister Atta Tarar Visits Family of Slain TikToker Sana Yousuf, Vows Legal Reforms
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Saturday visited the residence of murdered TikToker Sana Yousuf to offer condolences to her grieving parents, following the tragic killing that has sent shockwaves across the country.
Speaking to media after the visit, Tarar strongly condemned the brutal incident and called for urgent regulation of social media platforms such as TikTok. “TikTok has many benefits, but also many disadvantages. The time has come to introduce legislation to ensure these platforms are used responsibly,” he said.
The minister noted that both Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had taken strict notice of the murder. He commended Islamabad Police for the swift arrest of the suspect but emphasized that justice must not stop at arrest. “There should be no delay in prosecution,” he added.

Tarar also announced the formation of a special committee to monitor legal proceedings in the case and ensure justice is delivered.
He criticized performative activism by some in the digital community, urging social media influencers to treat the case with seriousness and support the family in their pursuit of justice.
“This case should be a test — and the accused must receive the strictest punishment,” he said.
