Ashraf Sadpara Embarks on Historic Expedition to Conquer Nanga Parbat

“Ashraf Sadpara is not only an asset to Sui Northern but also to Pakistan. We pray for his success and safety.”

Lahore — In a momentous step for Pakistan’s mountaineering community, Ashraf Sadpara, a distinguished climber from the Sui Northern Gas mountaineering team, has set off on a daring expedition to summit Nanga Parbat — the formidable “Killer Mountain” and the ninth-highest peak in the world at 8,126 meters.

This expedition marks Sadpara’s fifth ascent of a peak above 8,000 meters, positioning him among an elite group of climbers who have conquered all five of Pakistan’s 8,000+ meter summits. Notably, all of his previous climbs have been accomplished without the use of supplemental oxygen — a testament to his extraordinary endurance and skill.

Ashraf Sadpara has already successfully scaled:

  • K2 (8,611 meters)

  • Gasherbrum I (8,080 meters)

  • Broad Peak (8,051 meters)

  • Gasherbrum II (8,035 meters)

Representing the Sui Northern Gas Sports Cell throughout his professional journey, Sadpara has consistently brought pride to both his organization and the country. His commitment to the sport and his outstanding achievements have made him a symbol of resilience and excellence.

To honor his latest endeavor, a ceremonial send-off was held at the Sui Northern Gas head office. Managing Director Amer Tufail, along with DMD (Services) Faisal Iqbal, DMD (Operations) Arbab Saqib, President Sports Cell Imtiaz Mahmood, and other senior officials were present to offer their best wishes and prayers.

On the occasion, President Sports Cell Imtiaz Mahmood said:

“Ashraf Sadpara is not only an asset to Sui Northern but also to Pakistan. We pray for his success and safety.”

Nanga Parbat, the second-highest peak in Pakistan, is renowned for its technical difficulty and treacherous conditions. A successful summit would not only mark a personal milestone for Sadpara but also serve as a proud moment for the nation — with the Pakistani flag and the Sui Northern Gas emblem set to be raised high above the clouds.
