Former federal development minister in the PTI government Asad Umar has announced to quit politics completely while denouncing the policy of confrontation with the state institutions. He has also resigned from the basic membership of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Asad Umar who was former PTI secretary general shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday in which he has informed about his decision to quit politics for good.
He tweeted: “After more than one decade in public life, I have decided to completely quit politics.
“As i had already stated publicly earlier that i disagree with the policy of confrontation with state institutions, and such a policy has led to a serious collision with state institutions, which is not in the interest of the country.
“I am resigning from basic membership of PTI.
“I want to thank all those who have supported me in public life. In particular I want to thank the NA 54 team and the voters who elected me twice. I have tried my best to serve the constituency that i was elected from. May Allah’s blessings shine upon the Pakistani nation.”
One by one, almost all PTI stalwarts are quitting the party following the riots erupted after the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan on May 9.
On the tragic day of May 9, the political vandals attacked the state property and military installations and created a chaos unprecedented in the history of Pakistan.
