Army, FC to man in Sindh during Muharram 2024

KARACHI:  Army and Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel will be deployed in Sindh during the month of Muharram to ensure security and peace in the province, per the request of the provincial home ministry.

The Interior Ministry has approved the Sindh Home Department’s request for deployment of army and FC personnel in Sindh during the month of Muharram under Section 4 and 5 of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997, similar to deployments across the country.

The army and FC will be able to take control of any area at the behest of the civil administration.

The federal Ministry of Interior has issued orders for the army deployment, stating that the forces will be deployed to assist the civil administration.

The Ministry of Interior has clarified that the deployment of the army will be based on the ground situation and that the provinces will have the authority to determine the deployment locations.

The Sindh Home Department has already contacted the military authorities and a roadmap for the deployment of the army during Muharram has been prepared.

The Ministry of Interior has stated that the deployment of army personnel will be carried out in consultation with all relevant parties, ensuring that the deployment is in accordance with the needs of the situation.
