Apple has officially released its anticipated Apple Intelligence suite, making advanced AI tools available on iPhones through the latest iOS 18.1 update. Initially previewed at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June, these features have now moved from limited beta testing to a global release.
While the Apple Intelligence suite isn’t available in the EU or China, users outside these regions can activate it by setting their language to U.S. English.
Steps to Enable Apple Intelligence:
1. Update to iOS 18.1
– Ensure your device is updated by going to *Settings > General > Software Update* and installing the latest version if available.
2. Set Language to U.S. English
– To access Apple Intelligence outside the EU and China, go to *Settings > General > Language & Region and select U.S. English.
3. Activate Apple Intelligence
– Open the *Settings* app, locate *Apple Intelligence & Siri*, and switch on the *Enable Apple Intelligence* option.
4. Allow Setup Time
– Your iPhone will download and set up the AI features. You’ll receive a notification once everything is ready.

– iPads and Macs with M1 chips
Notable Apple Intelligence Features:
– New Siri: Enhanced animations and support for “stumbling” speech recognition. Double-tap the bottom bar to text Siri.
– How-to Assistance: Ask system-related questions like, “How do I take a screen recording?”
– Writing Tools: Refine text with options for “Proofread,” “Rewrite,” or tone adjustments (Friendly, Professional, Concise).
– Mail Summaries and Smart Replies: View brief summaries of emails and use AI-powered smart reply suggestions.
– Photo Search and Memory Creation: Use natural language for photo searches and create memories with prompts.
– Notification Summaries : See concise overviews of selected notifications.
– Call Transcriptions and Recordings: Record calls with a new button and access recordings in the Notes app.
– Notes Transcriptions and Summaries: Automatically transcribe and summarize audio recordings.
– Image Cleanup: Easily remove unwanted objects by selecting or drawing over them in photos.
Although certain features like emoji playgrounds and object-removal tools aren’t yet available, Apple Intelligence is already proving to be a substantial addition to Apple’s AI capabilities.
