Apple and Google Join Forces for AI Integration
Apple Partners with Google to Power Next-Gen AI Features
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Apple and Google announced a landmark multi-year partnership on Monday, under which Apple’s next-generation AI features, including its Siri assistant, will be powered by Google’s Gemini technology. The collaboration marks a rare move for Apple, which has historically developed its core technologies in-house, and underscores the growing importance of AI in the tech industry.
In a joint statement, Apple said it selected Google’s AI after a “careful evaluation” determined it offered “the most capable foundation” for its AI ambitions. While the two companies have long competed in the smartphone market, they have maintained a lucrative partnership for years, with Google paying Apple billions to remain the default search engine on iPhones—a deal that has drawn antitrust scrutiny in the U.S.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and AI company xAI, criticized the arrangement, calling it “an unreasonable concentration of power for Google,” given its Android and Chrome dominance. Apple reportedly also considered partnerships with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Perplexity before finalizing the deal.
The announcement sent Alphabet’s stock above a $4 trillion valuation for the first time. Analysts say the partnership is a “major validation” for Google and a “stepping stone” for Apple to advance its AI strategy. Despite the alliance, Apple emphasized that its in-house AI system, Apple Intelligence, will continue powering device-level features on iPhones and iPads, maintaining “industry-leading privacy standards.”
