DA Seals 10 Properties for Illegal Commercial Use Geo-Tagging to Ensure Transparency in Road Repairs

Lahore-(Tahir Chuhdary)-Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif recently chaired a meeting to review the progress of the Lahore Development Plan, expressing her disappointment with the delayed progress and poor cleanliness of Lahore’s streets and markets. She gave the concerned institutions three days to improve the situation, emphasizing that they should take responsibility for repairing the city’s roads.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif stressed that wherever she passes, the roads should be built and cleaned, questioning why the institutions can’t do it themselves. She prioritized patchwork on main roads, ensuring no potholes are visible, and activated the road maintenance unit of LDA. The Chief Minister also decided to launch a campaign to end encroachment in 18 Lahore markets, clearing footpaths of illegal parking and allocating space for motorbike parking .

The campaign will involve the business community and include removal of goods from footpaths, marking for bikes and carriages. Additionally, 2598 cattle in 213 places will be relocated outside city limits, and illegal people living in over 1800 tents will be addressed. Posters will be removed from walls, pools, and pillars .

Senior officials, including Center Parvez Rasheed, Senior Minister Aurangzeb, and Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique, attended the meeting. LDA conducted operations against encroachment in Sabzazar, recovering valuable land and removing illegal barriers and gates. Ten properties in Faisal Town were sealed for illegal commercial use.

In a separate meeting chaired by DG LDA Tahir Farooq, patchwork on 89 major highways in LDA-controlled areas was discussed. The plan includes clearing 302 km of highways, focusing on areas like Gulberg, Johar Town, and Allama Iqbal Town. Quality work, geo-tagging, and road signage will be ensured.
