ANP Condemns Government’s Decision to Ban PTI as Foolish & Unwise

Ihsanullah Khan emphasized that political parties cannot be suppressed through bans and obstacles.

Islamabad: The Awami National Party (ANP) has strongly criticized the federal government’s decision to ban the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and to proceed against Imran Khan under Article 6. ANP’s central spokesperson, Engineer Ihsanullah Khan, labeled the decision as foolish and unwise.

In a statement, Ihsanullah Khan emphasized that political parties cannot be suppressed through bans and obstacles. He acknowledged the political differences with PTI but asserted that the government’s move would be a mistake. He further stated that the root causes of the country’s problems lie not with political parties but with the defense institutions and the establishment.

Khan highlighted the need to identify those truly responsible for political instability and economic difficulties, pointing out that the real culprits are those whose actions have led to the failure of both foreign and domestic policies. He stressed the importance of holding accountable the forces that have brought political parties to this point and emphasized that the real accountability should target these forces.

He criticized the use of one political party against another and asserted that stability would only be achieved by ending the practices that have persisted for 77 years. Khan called for the establishment to acknowledge their mistakes and restrict themselves to their constitutional limits to pave the way for progress.

Khan also expressed disappointment that the ruling party in the center has not learned from the past, repeating the same mistakes that PTI made between 2018 and 2022. He predicted a grim future for the ruling party, comparing it to a sinking ship.

He condemned the political dramas and musical chair shows orchestrated by the establishment, stating that such actions have eroded public trust in politics. The ANP demanded the formation of a Truth and Reconciliation Commission to investigate and reveal those who have violated the constitution.
