ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced that mobile phone users can now make free calls to toll-free numbers starting with 0800, a facility that was previously available only to landline subscribers.
Until now, mobile users were charged standard call rates when dialing toll-free numbers, while fixed-line users could access them without cost. In a significant consumer-focused move, PTA has removed these charges, ensuring equal access to toll-free services for everyone.
According to the authority, the decision was finalized after comprehensive consultations with key stakeholders, including PTCL, National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC), local loop operators, and cellular mobile companies. After detailed discussions, all parties agreed that local loop (LL) toll-free numbers would be made free for both mobile and landline users.

PTA stated that the initiative reflects its commitment to building a fair, inclusive, and consumer-friendly telecom sector in Pakistan. The move aims to eliminate disparities and provide seamless access to essential services offered through toll-free numbers.
The decision is expected to benefit millions of mobile subscribers across the country, making communication more affordable and accessible, particularly for those relying solely on mobile connectivity.
