RAWALPINDI: Following the issuance of a non-bailable arrest warrant against former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, in the November 26 protest case registered at Sadiqabad Police Station, Rawalpindi Police has sent a special team to Lahore to apprehend her.
According to police sources, the Sadiqabad Police team has departed for Lahore carrying the arrest warrant issued by the court. The warrant lists Aleema Khan’s address as 14 Upper Mall Road, Lahore, where police action is expected to be carried out.
The Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court issued the non-bailable arrest warrant on Friday due to Aleema Khan’s repeated failure to appear in court.
Sources also revealed that the court has summoned Aleema Khan’s surety, Umar Sharif, to provide an explanation in court. Umar Sharif, a resident of Rawalpindi, had submitted a bail bond of Rs 100,000 for Aleema Khan.
The court has warned that if Aleema Khan is not produced at the next hearing scheduled for October 20, legal proceedings will be initiated against her surety.
