Al-Zarooni 9th Students Olympic Games Kick Off in Karachi Today
KMC Sports Complex to host grand opening ceremony on September 19
KARACHI: The stage is set for the Al-Zarooni 9th Students Olympic Games 2025, organized by the Pakistan Students Olympic Association, with competitions beginning today (Thursday) in Karachi. The much-anticipated games were delayed by two days due to recent rains in the city, but all arrangements have now been finalized.
The formal inauguration ceremony will take place on Friday, September 19, at 5:00 PM at the KMC Sports Complex, Kashmir Road, and will be graced by Sheikh Ali Zarooni, Head of Buraq Sports Private Limited (UAE), who will officially open the games.
According to Maqbool Arain, President of the Pakistan Students Olympic Association, the games will feature more than 150 schools, colleges, and universities from across the country competing in 24 different sports disciplines.
The events will be held across three major venues in Karachi:

The closing ceremony will be held on September 28, where trophies, medals, and certificates will be awarded to the winning teams and participants in recognition of their achievements.
The Al-Zarooni Students Olympic Games have grown into one of the largest student sports festivals in Pakistan, fostering youth engagement, sportsmanship, and national integration through competitive sports.
