Al-Hilal Captain Salem Al-Dawsari Ruled Out of Club World Cup with Hamstring Injury

With that win, Al-Hilal secured their place in the last 16 of the tournament, finishing second in Group H behind European giants Real Madrid.

RIYADH — Al-Hilal captain Salem Al-Dawsari will miss the remainder of the FIFA Club World Cup after sustaining a hamstring injury, the Saudi club confirmed in a statement on Saturday.

“Medical tests have confirmed that Salem Al-Dawsari has suffered from a hamstring injury. He will be undergoing a treatment and rehabilitation program that will last between four to six weeks,” Al-Hilal announced on their official X account.

The injury comes as a significant blow to the Saudi champions, who relied on Al-Dawsari’s leadership and attacking prowess during their Club World Cup campaign. The 33-year-old winger played a crucial role in Al-Hilal’s 2-0 victory over Mexico’s Pachuca on Friday, opening the scoring in the third round of the group stage.

With that win, Al-Hilal secured their place in the last 16 of the tournament, finishing second in Group H behind European giants Real Madrid. The result also marked an important milestone in the club’s quest for a deep run in the global competition, where they aim to improve on past performances.

Al-Dawsari’s absence will be deeply felt as Al-Hilal continue their campaign without one of their most experienced and influential players. The club has yet to announce who will assume the captain’s armband in his absence.
