Akram Masih Gill Calls Christmas a Symbol of Peace and Harmony
Demands for Increase in Minorities Seats in Parliament and 5% Job Quota in Armed Forces
Islamabad: Former Federal Minister for Minority Affairs Akram Masih Gill said that Christmas is a true spirit of peace, harmony and security. He urged the people to help the poor and underprivileged so that they can also celebrate Christmas with their families in a dignified manner.
He expressed these views while addressing a Christmas ceremony organized by Holy Trinity Church, New York. Akram Gill emphasized that along with facilitating Christmas rallies, the government should take concrete steps to politically, economically and religiously empower minorities in the country.
He demanded that a five percent job quota be allocated for minorities in the Pakistan Armed Forces so that members of minority communities can achieve economic progress and contribute more effectively to national development.

Akram Gill further called on the government to increase minority seats in the Senate, National Assembly and provincial assemblies, enabling minorities to play a more effective role in Parliament for the protection and promotion of their rights.
On the occasion, Reverend Pastor Jeffrey Samuel offered special prayers for the peace, security, development and prosperity of Pakistan as well as Roshni Akram distributed Christmas gifts among children.
