AJK President Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry Dies Aged 71
ISLAMABAD: Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry, President of Azad Jammu & Kashmir and a leading advocate for Kashmiri self-determination, passed away in Islamabad at the age of 71 after a prolonged illness. His death was confirmed by media advisor Kamal Haider.
Funeral prayers will be held tomorrow, Sunday, at 4:00 PM in his ancestral village of Chechian, Mirpur, followed by burial. Born on August 9, 1955, in Chechian, Mirpur, Chaudhry completed his early education locally, matriculated from Cantt Public School, Rawalpindi, and graduated from Gordon College, Rawalpindi.

He later earned his Bar at Law degree from Lincoln’s Inn in the United Kingdom. His passing is being mourned as a major loss for the people of Azad Jammu & Kashmir and the broader Kashmiri leadership.
