AJK Prime Minister Reviews Food Department, Orders Strict Market Monitoring

Muzaffarabad: (Web Desk) – A high-level meeting chaired by Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, reviewed the overall performance of the AJK Food Department and assessed arrangements for ensuring the availability of essential commodities across the region.

During the meeting, the prime minister was briefed in detail on flour stock positions, supply chain management, district-wise distribution, quota allocation to flour mills, and quality control measures. Progress on establishing a static food laboratory and improving food standards in compliance with directives of the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir was also reviewed.

Addressing participants, Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore emphasized strict implementation of court orders and declared zero tolerance for artificial shortages, hoarding, profiteering, or the sale of substandard food items. He stressed the need for round-the-clock market monitoring to maintain price stability and ensure uninterrupted supply of quality essential goods.

The prime minister directed authorities to implement court directives in letter and spirit and to establish an effective monitoring mechanism. He made it clear that no disruption in flour supply would be tolerated under any circumstances.

He further ordered indiscriminate action against hoarders and profiteers, warning that those involved in creating artificial shortages or selling substandard food items would face strict legal consequences.

The meeting was attended by Mian Abdul Waheed, Chaudhry Qasim Majeed, Chaudhry Javed Iqbal Budhanvi, Principal Secretary Zafar Mahmood, Director General Food Department Masood ur Rehman, Secretary Food Sardar Suhail Azam, and other senior officials.
