AJK government approves 44 projects worth Rs. 34.85 billion

Islamabad/Muzaffarabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, has stressed the government’s commitment to public relief, political stability, and accelerated development, despite inheriting challenging conditions.

In a special interview, he highlighted the role of Asif Ali Zardari and the party leadership in taking responsibility during a difficult political phase, aimed at restoring public confidence. He noted that the government prioritized addressing citizen concerns, implementing agreements with stakeholders, and re-establishing direct engagement with the public.

The Prime Minister emphasized resolving issues through dialogue and political processes rather than protests or agitation. He reiterated that law and order will be maintained, while legitimate public demands will be addressed promptly.

Announcing a major agriculture conference on April 20, he said the initiative aims to promote self-reliance and strengthen the local economy. He also confirmed progress on pending matters, including refugee representation and related issues.

During a high-level development review meeting in Muzaffarabad, the Prime Minister directed all departments to ensure 100 percent utilization of development funds and timely completion of projects to avoid cost escalations. Key initiatives reviewed included the Jagran Hydropower Project Phase-II, the Legislative Assembly building, Rathua Haryam Bridge, and other infrastructure projects, with a deadline for fund utilization set for April 22.

The Cabinet Development Committee approved 44 projects worth over Rs. 34.85 billion, spanning health, education, infrastructure, IT, energy, and food sectors. Major decisions included constructing 30 kilometers of roads per constituency, establishing IT Excellence Centers to create employment, building grid stations and food storage facilities, and adding classrooms to schools.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed that the government’s priority is to provide basic facilities, generate employment opportunities, and transform Azad Kashmir into a peaceful, prosperous, and developed region.
