Ajay Devgn Inspired by Legendary Pakistani Actor Tauqeer Nasir, Reveals Veteran Star
“I don’t know why he copies me; he has been doing it for years,” Nasir said with a smile.
Lahore – In a rare cross-border acknowledgment of artistic influence, legendary Pakistani actor Tauqeer Nasir has revealed that Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn has long drawn inspiration from his signature acting style.
The revelation came during a candid interview on a local digital platform, where Nasir openly discussed his impact on the Indian film industry, particularly on Devgn’s widely recognized intense screen presence.
“I don’t know why he copies me; he has been doing it for years,” Nasir said with a smile. “I haven’t contacted him, nor has he contacted me. But many people told me that he has mentioned my name in interviews, which turned out to be true. It is a big thing, because here people rarely acknowledge their inspirations. It is his greatness that he mentioned my name.”

Nasir praised Devgn for his humility in openly crediting him—something he called uncommon in the acting world. He added that he, too, had his own artistic idols, including the late Pakistani screen legend Waheed Murad, whose charm and emotional range shaped generations of actors.
Upon learning of Devgn’s admiration, Nasir said he began watching some of his films, including the critically acclaimed Omkara. “I did notice some resemblance in his work, especially in the way he uses his eyes to express emotions, just as I do. Eyes are the strongest tool in acting, as they create a powerful impact. Acting isn’t a joke,” he explained.
Known for his powerful performances in Pakistani television classics such as Yaad Piya Ki Aye, Thakan, Sona Chandi, and Landa Bazaar, Tauqeer Nasir has long been considered one of the pillars of Pakistan’s entertainment industry. His expansive body of work also includes dramas like Kashkol, Samandar, Reza Reza, Dehleez, and Panah.
In recognition of his decades-long contribution to the arts, Nasir has been awarded both the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and the Sitara-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan—two of the country’s highest civilian honours.
Beyond acting, he has played a significant role in promoting the arts through leadership positions, including serving as the Director General of the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA). He currently holds a seat on the Pakistan Censor Board, continuing his commitment to shaping cultural discourse.
As artists across borders find subtle ways of connecting through craft, Tauqeer Nasir’s influence on Ajay Devgn serves as a testament to the power of performance and the silent bridges built through shared artistic language.
